What this site is

ScribbleScrabble is a small set of free, browser-based tools for word game players: a word finder, anagram solver, validator, score calculator and definitions lookup. Everything runs client-side against a full word list, so results are instant and consistent whichever tool you're using.

Why we built it

Most word-finder sites online are cluttered, slow, or push you through several pages before showing a result. We wanted one place with a handful of focused tools that all share the same underlying word list, so a word that validates on the Validator will also turn up correctly scored on the Score Calculator or findable from your rack on the Word Finder — no inconsistencies between tools.

UK and US word lists

Scrabble is played to different official dictionaries depending on where you are, so every tool lets you switch between a UK (Collins-style) and US (TWL-style) word list. We use YAWL and ENABLE1 — both public-domain word lists — as practical stand-ins for the official Collins Scrabble Words and NASPA Word List, since those official lists are proprietary and not freely redistributable. Results are a close, useful match for casual and club play, but see our Terms of Use for the limits of that guarantee.

ScribbleScrabble is an independent project, built and run by High Street Sales Ltd, and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Mattel, Hasbro, Zynga, or any other rights holder of the Scrabble trademark. "Scrabble" is a registered trademark of its respective owners.

How the site is run

The site is free to use, supported by advertising and the occasional affiliate link (disclosed where it appears). No account or personal details are needed to use any tool — see our Privacy & Cookies Policy for the full detail on data and advertising.
